The iconic Abu Dhabi Golf Club will once again be the host venue for the FirstPoint USA Golf Showcase as talented young golfers aim to take their first step towards a golf scholarship in the States.

Taking place from 14 – 16 February 2024 and open to male and female golfers from the UAE and overseas, the event will have WAGR (World Amateur Golf Ranking) points up for grabs and an opportunity to impress FirstPoint’s head of golf Callum Macaulay, the former European Tour player and Ole Miss University golf alum.

Fresh from hosting the World Amateur Team Championship in October, the National Course in Abu Dhabi provides a challenging setting for the players, with the 54-hole format on the championship layout replicating what players can expect should they progress to transformative golf scholarship in the States.

Oscar Craig (Jumeirah Golf Estates) and Zurich Kanokpornvasin (Saadiyat Beach Golf Club) won the inaugural FirstPoint USA tournament earlier this year and players will be hoping the follow in the footsteps of the likes of Masters champion Danny Willett and Russell Knox, two FirstPoint alum who went onto achieve success on the PGA Tour after successful collegiate careers in the US.

Austin Cahill, Experience Manager at Abu Dhabi Golf Club said, ‘We are excited to be, once again, hosting this significant event on our National Course. We expect to attract talent from all over the world who will be coming to Abu Dhabi, in addition from a strong attendance from the UAE and the Middle East.’

FirstPoint’s Callum Macaulay, added, ‘Aspiring young golfers from the region will have the opportunity to play in a competitive WAGR counting event at an incredible venue and showcase their talents to our team, while learning all about life as a student-athlete in the States.

‘Having experienced it for myself during what was an amazing four years on a golf scholarship at the University of Mississippi, I look forward to meeting other young golfers, sharing my story and supporting them on their own journey.’

The maximum handicap for boys is 8, while girls with a handicap of 12 can enter. Players must be aged between 15 and 20. The entry fee is 1300 AED.
